Nam Wah is run by Cheong Sweet Fong. The company markets their coffee powder under the Rose brand. The business grew when the coffee drinking culture became popular among the locals and coffee shop owners found it more convenient and economical to purchase ready-roasted and ground coffee powder.

The town’s most famous biscuit-making company was started out of sheer necessity by parents who needed to feed their children. The factory churns out between 10,000 to 20,000 biscuits daily. Their loh por paeng (wife biscuits), dragonball biscuits and chicken biscuits are also gaining popularity – with most of their biscuits that are now being exported to Australia and the United States.

ENAK & RANGUP

Possibly the only such known village in Malaysia, Buntong Kacang Putih Village has over 27 houses dedicated to manufacturing and distributing more than 20 different types of kacang putih. And one such company is Enak & Ranggup. These kacang putih are so popular that many snack sellers from others states come to the village to get their stock.

Ipoh is famous for its Taugeh (bean sprouts). It is a must try for anyone visiting the city. Onn Kee taugeh is one place that you need to visit. They are famous for their Ngah Choi Kai (bean sprouts chicken). Ipoh's bean sprouts are characteristically fat, juicy and sweet. Deliciously blanched with some soy sauce and garlic, the chef's skill managed to perfectly retain the beansprouts springiness whilst making it still extremely juicy.

The most famous fruit in Perak would be none other than Pomelos. This fruit is reputed to be from Tambun, a small town about 10 minute's drive east of Ipoh. There are an endless stretch of farms and stalls selling this fruit as you drive along this area. The Chinese boil the pomelo and the leaves of the pomelo peel as a garnish or as flavouring in Chinese cooking and deserts, they also to prepare a ceremonial bath to "ritually cleanse a person and repel evil".

Mee Suah means “noodle threads”. Madam Teh Bee Choo and her son, Ong Yin Hock are two common artisans from Sitiawan who still make mee sua by hand. The hand-made mee sua ranks highly among Sitiawan locals because they have longer strands and a much smoother texture.
